This Level 2 3-Hour Basic Life Support course will give learners the skills and knowledge dealing with casualties and also providing potentially life saving treatment until the emergency services arrive. The course will give learners the guidance on how to provide the correct treatment for an unresponsive breathing and non breathing casualty.
This qualification is valid for 3 years and learners would need to undertake the full course again to re qualify, HSE recommend annual refresher training throughout these 3 years.

This Level 2 4-Hour Basic Life Support and Safe use of an AED will touch on all aspects of the 3-Hour Basic Life Support but will give delegates the chance to use an AED in a practical scenario. It is an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) which plays a crucial part in saving a life in a Cardiac Arrest, The AED will send a shock to a casualties heart hoping to get the heart pumping back into a normal rhythm again.
If used within the first minute of a Cardiac Arrest the chance of survival can be as high of 90% although for every minute defibrillation is delayed the chance of survival falls to 10%.
